The Real AI Jobs Story Nobody Is Covering

Everyone's arguing about whether AI is going to take jobs. It's the wrong argument.

Dario Amodei said a year ago that AI could eliminate half of all entry-level office roles within five years. Sam Altman made similar noises. Both of these men run the two most powerful AI companies on the planet, so people listened.

Then Altman revised his view. He's been saying publicly that the job losses he expected haven't materialised at the scale or pace he predicted. Dario has shifted his framing too, away from deletion and toward expansion of what people can do.

Elon is somewhere else entirely, predicting a future where nobody works at all.

For a small business owner in Ireland or the UK, none of these debates are the question that matters. The question that matters is whether AI is helping you take on clients and projects you couldn't handle before. The businesses I work with that are growing aren't running leaner teams. They're doing more than they could a year ago.

Nobody seems to be covering that story.
