Most People Upgrading to Claude Fable Will Miss the Actual Lever
22 June 2026

The instinct when a better AI model lands is that it needs less from you.
It doesn't. The smarter the model, the more your context matters.
I spent time in Anthropic's release notes this week. When they tested Claude Fable with persistent memory, context it could carry across longer tasks, that context helped the new model three times more than it helped the older one. Most people saw the model upgrade and thought the hard work was already done.
Most small business owners using AI are operating with a bare fridge. They open a new chat, explain what they do and how they work, then close it and start again next week. The model never really knows them.
Think of it like hiring a better chef. A better chef with a bare fridge gives you the same expensive disappointment as a bad one. Feed that chef good ingredients and the results are completely different.
Every business in your sector can buy the same model. Your context is what they can't copy: how you work, what your clients care about, and where your standards sit.
Build context once. A document that holds how you work and what good output looks like. Every model you plug it into gets immediately better. New models launch every few weeks, but good context takes one afternoon and only grows.
Build the context before you upgrade the model.
