Your AI Doesn't Know You Yet. This One File Fixes That.

Do This Now

Your AI doesn't know you. Every new chat starts from zero, and you spend the first five minutes explaining who you are before you get anything useful.

That's the real friction. It's not the prompts. It's the fact that you're the only one carrying the context from session to session. Claude has no memory of your business, your voice, your preferences, or how you like things structured. So every conversation begins as if you've never met.

A CLAUDE.md file fixes this. It's a plain text file that Claude reads at the start of every session. You write down who you are, what your business does, who your clients are, and how you like to work. From that point on, Claude starts every conversation already knowing you.

I set this up with every client before we touch anything else. Not because it's the most impressive thing we'll build, but because everything else depends on it. Once that file exists, Claude's outputs improve immediately. The context is finally there.

And if you want to go further, that file is the foundation of how AI agents work. A client scheduling agent reads your availability file. A proposal agent reads your offer file. A cashflow agent reads your accounts file. Each one knows what it needs because you told it in writing, once. You stop re-explaining and the agent stops guessing.

To build your first file, open Claude and use a voice note to ramble about who you are and what you do. Paste the transcript in and say: turn this into a formatted CLAUDE.md file I can use at the start of every session. That's it.

One file and your AI stops being a stranger.
