Claude killed web designers? No.

"Claude just killed web designers" is the line I keep seeing, and it's wrong.
Good designers will always be needed. What has changed is that vibe coding your own website is now a real option if you run a small business, and the hard part is making yours look different from every other vibe-coded site.
Anthropic, the company behind Claude, has put the problem in writing. Ask AI for a web page with no guidance and you almost always get the Inter font, a purple gradient on a white background and very little animation.
They built a skill to fix it, called Frontend Design. A skill is a small file of instructions Claude reads before it starts a job, and this one steers its design choices away from those defaults.
What it can't do is decide what your website is for. Someone still has to work out who the site is for, what you want a visitor to do, and what you need to say to get them there. A good designer starts with those questions, and that's why designers aren't going anywhere.
What's gone is the excuse for a site that looks like everyone else's.
If you're building your own site with Claude, install the Frontend Design skill before you ask it for a single page.
