You don't need Obsidian for AI

You don't need Obsidian to build a second brain for AI, whatever the videos suggest.

A second brain is one place where what your business knows is written down, so AI can work from it. Obsidian shows up in most of the videos about building one, so plenty of owners assume they need the app first.

Obsidian is a notes app that opens a folder of plain text files on your computer. The files hold the value, and plain text opens in almost anything.

My own business brain lives in Obsidian, and the very same folder sits on our shared Google Drive. I write and link the files in Obsidian, and my team gets to them through Drive.

So if your team already works in Google Drive or OneDrive, start there. In Google Drive on your computer, right-click that one folder and make it available offline. You keep a full copy on your machine, and text files take up almost no space.

The bigger risk is duplicate files that disagree with each other. Keep one master copy, and give every file one owner who keeps it current.
