You no longer need to be at your desktop to use Claude Cowork

The most useful AI work in your business only happens while you're sat at your desk. Leave for a meeting or the school run and it stops dead.

These tools live on your computer, and you have to be in front of them to set anything going. So the better AI gets at the actual work, the more it stings that you're tied to the one spot where it runs.

That spot is starting to matter a lot less.

Anthropic shipped a feature called Dispatch. You scan a code to pair your phone with your laptop, then send Claude a job from wherever you are, and it runs on your own machine with your own files. You could be in the car and say, pull last month's figures off the spreadsheet on my desktop and write me a one page summary. It does it while you're nowhere near the place.

It's still an early research preview, so it's slow and it trips up on anything complicated. Your laptop has to stay on with the app open, and it runs on the Pro and Max plans, not the free one.

The rough edges don't change where this is heading. The limit on getting AI to do real work in your business was being tied to the machine it runs on. That limit is coming down.

So I'd start a list of the jobs that stall every time you leave your desk. That's the one worth handing to AI first.
