The three people building AI can't agree

The three people leading the development of AI do not agree with each other. In some cases, they do not even agree with themselves from six months ago.

Dario Amodei runs Anthropic. In 2025 he warned that AI could wipe out half of entry-level white-collar jobs within five years. Asked this year if he had softened, he said he held the same level of concern. But in 2023, the same man described his own AI as being like a helpful intern.

Sam Altman said in 2023 that jobs are definitely going to go away. This May he said he was delighted to be wrong. Elon Musk has said the same thing since 2017: no job will be needed.

I find that interesting. Three people with more inside knowledge than anyone else, and they cannot land on the same answer.
