I Stopped Thinking of Claude as a Tool. Now It Works While I'm Not There.

Long Game

I stopped thinking about Claude as a tool. I now think of it as something that works for me when I'm not there.

Most business owners are still using Claude the same way they use a search engine. Open it, type something, read the result, close the tab. That works. It also caps the value to whatever you remember to ask for in the moment.

Anthropic has been building a different version of this. Scheduled tasks let Claude run work on a timer without you opening a chat. Computer use lets it control an app and work through steps without you being present. You set something up in the morning. By the time you're back from lunch, it's done.

I've started treating my most repetitive weekly tasks this way. A Friday review that pulls in data from three sources. A Monday morning summary I used to spend thirty minutes pulling together. Both of those now run without me. I come back to the result.

None of this takes technical skill. It's a shift in how you think about what Claude is for.

If you're using it as a tool you pick up and put down, you're leaving most of the value on the table.

Pick your most repetitive weekly task. Set it up as a scheduled job. See what comes back without you.
