Google's free design team

Google has given you an entire design team for free. It is called Pomelli, and it is worth knowing about even in its current state.

You give it your website address. It studies your brand: your colours, your fonts, your tone of voice. It turns all of that into a style guide it calls your business DNA. Then it generates campaign ideas and social graphics that actually look like they came from your business.

Everything is editable. You can change the images, the wording, and the colours before anything goes out.

For a small business that cannot justify a designer on retainer, that is serious marketing muscle for nothing.

It is still an experiment. The editing is basic and it mostly makes vertical formats. But the direction is clear.

The cost of decent-looking marketing is falling towards zero. That means design stops being the advantage. The advantage becomes taste, knowing your customers, and having something worth saying.

The tools will happily generate endless graphics. Deciding what your business stands for is still your job.
