Every Friday at four, my client reports write themselves. By Monday there's a one-page update waiting for every active client, and I haven't touched a word of it.

The setup took ten minutes, and it uses a feature most business owners have never opened.

Most people use AI the same way. Open a chat, type a request, wait, copy the result, close the tab. That works, but it caps the value at the jobs you remember to ask for. The weekly admin keeps landing on your desk because nobody is there to ask.

The fix is a routine. A routine is a prompt that runs itself on a schedule. You write the instructions once, and Claude does the job at the same time every week without you asking.

It lives in the Claude desktop app, which is a free download. Click Code, then Routines, create a new routine, and choose local.

Then select a folder on your machine, because that folder does two jobs. Anything you drop into it, your price list, your tone of voice, your client notes, becomes the knowledge Claude reads before it starts. And the finished work gets saved back into the same folder.

Paste your instructions, set the day and time, and you're done.

The one catch is that a local routine only runs while the app is open and your laptop is awake. If the machine is asleep when it fires, that run is skipped.

You'll need a paid Claude plan, and that's the point. People pay €100 a month for automation platforms that do less than this, and it's already sitting inside the subscription.

Pick one job you repeat every week. Write the instructions once and schedule it for Friday.
