Do This Now

You've been writing blog posts for months. Not one of them shows up when someone asks AI a question about your industry.

There's nothing wrong with the posts themselves. The format doesn't match what AI is looking for. Blog posts don't answer the questions people actually type into AI. Someone asking "what's the best invoicing software for freelancers" is looking for a comparison, not a thought piece.

Three specific page formats get cited by AI far more often.

A "best X" list. A ranked list of options in your category, with a comparison table. "Best invoicing software for freelancers," with real prices and real trade-offs.

An "X vs Y" comparison. Two products your audience is choosing between, compared feature by feature, laid out honestly.

An "X alternatives" page. For people who already have a tool and they're unhappy with it. "Alternatives to Xero for Irish SMEs," with your product included.

These work because they match how people ask buying questions. An AI answering "what's the best X for Y" wants a source that already did the comparing. Give it one.

I tell every client to write these about their own category and include themselves. The rule is honesty. If a competitor is better at something, say so. A page that says you win everything reads like an ad, and AI models are trained on millions of pages. They spot ads quickly.

Include real prices, not "affordable." Be honest about your weaknesses. Put a comparison table near the top of the page.

One honest comparison page will do more for your AI visibility than the 20 blog posts you've already written.
