Your Claude setup is the problem

Most business owners who tell me AI is overrated are using Claude with none of its settings touched. They open the chat, type a question, copy the answer out, and start again from zero tomorrow.

Twenty minutes of setup changes that, and it comes down to three moves.

First, connectors. In Claude's settings you can connect the apps you already use: your email, your calendar, your accounts package. Once they're connected, Claude reads the actual information itself. You stop pasting things in and describing your own business from memory.

Second, skills. Anything you do the same way every time, save the method once as a skill. I have skills for proposals and client reports, and each one comes out my way, in my structure, without me re-explaining it in every chat.

Third, whole jobs. Make one folder for each piece of work, point Claude Cowork at it, and let it work through the files while you do something else. This is the move that turns Claude from a chat window into something closer to a staff member.

None of this needs technical skill. If you can change a setting on your phone, you can do all three.

I watch the difference play out every week. The owners getting real value from AI are running it on their own information with their own methods saved. The ones still calling it overrated are typing questions into an empty chat box.
