Long Game

Your AI site sounds like everyone else

Long Game

AI can build your entire website in minutes, and that's exactly how it could do you more harm than good.

The hard part of building a website used to be the technology. Now anyone can spin one up, so having a website is table stakes. What sets you apart is what the website says. And most people are rubbish at explaining how their business solves their customer's number one pain point and makes their number one dream come true.

Your website's job is to invite your customer into a story about how your product or service makes their life better. They need to feel you understand them and their problems deeply, because the more you demonstrate that, the more likely they are to work with you. If you take the first draft AI gives you, you'll sound like everyone else who asked AI to build them a website.

Can AI help you create the content? Absolutely. But you have to lead the process and give it full context: your business, your customer, the pain they carry, and how you solve it.

When I rebuilt aiwithkelso.com, I spent four days on the plan and the content. The build took a couple of hours. Four days on words, two hours on code, and the site works because of the four days.

As more people use AI, your customers will put a higher premium on relationships, and relationships are built on trust and understanding. In the age of AI, you stand out by being uniquely you.

The best way I've found to get there: open Wispr Flow or voice mode in ChatGPT, ask it to interview you about your business, and talk for thirty minutes. Then build the site from what comes out.
