Why AI websites all look the same
26 September 2026

Every AI-built website looks the same, and if you build yours with no direction, it will too.
You've seen the look: stock fonts and gradient buttons that scream vibe-coded. Your business deserves better than that.
It happens because AI has no taste of its own. Ask it for a website with nothing to go on and it hands you the average of every site it has seen.
You can still build a unique, high-quality site yourself with AI. The fix is giving Claude something to work from before it builds anything.
Start with design knowledge. There are free skill files on GitHub that teach Claude real font pairings, colour palettes and layout systems, and one of the best is Anthropic's own Frontend Design skill. If you don't know how to install it, ask Claude to walk you through it.
Then do the part that happens before you open Claude at all. Write down what your website needs to achieve and how you want visitors to feel when they land on it. Your copy will do far more for those visitors than the design ever will, so get that clear first.
Next, go looking at other sites. Find the sections and components you like, and write a paragraph or two on what you like about each one. Hand that to Claude with the links before it designs a thing.
The quality of what AI builds is set by the quality of what you hand it, so write the brief before you write a single prompt.
