What your team hears about AI
23 September 2026

When you bring AI into your business, your team will hear things you never said.
You stand up and tell them AI is going to handle the admin. You mean it as good news. The person who holds your office together hears that you do not need them any more. Nobody has told them what their job looks like on the other side, so that is a fair thing to hear.
Pushing back is what a sensible person does with half the information. They are protecting a role nobody has confirmed still exists.
Some of your team are probably using AI already and have not told you. The fear you are seeing is about their job, their routine, and whether they still matter on Monday.
The only thing that settles it is specifics. Sit down with the person most affected by the change, one-to-one, before anyone else hears about it.
Tell them what they will stop doing. Tell them what they will be doing instead, and why that new work matters more to the business than the old admin ever did. Warn them the first two weeks will be slower, and tell them who will help when they get stuck.
I have had this conversation with clients a dozen times. The resistance drops once they know what their role looks like afterwards.
Show them the tool privately, because nobody wants to press the wrong button in front of the whole team.
Before you announce any AI tool, have that one conversation with the person it affects most.
