What AI remembers about you is probably wrong, and the problem is how good it is at remembering.

Mention something once and it can file it away as a fact about your business.

You asked for help organising one delivery to Australia, and now it thinks Australia is a key market. You wrote a bio for your brother-in-law's plumbing business, and now it thinks you do plumbing on the side. You told it you had a team of five two years ago, and it still thinks you have five.

ChatGPT now builds its own running summary of you from your old chats. That summary is pieced together from past conversations, so it can include things it worked out about you rather than things you actually said.

Every answer you get is shaped by that picture, whether it's right or not.

So go and look. In ChatGPT, ask it to tell you everything it remembers about you and your business. In Claude, open Settings, find Memory and read through the list.

Delete anything that's out of date or was only ever a one-off. Anything that belongs to someone else's business goes too.

Then stop leaving the important facts to memory. I keep what I do, my services, my terms and how I talk to customers in a few plain files, and I hand those to AI on purpose at the start of the work.

That way, the facts your AI works from are the ones you chose, instead of the ones it overheard.

Comment BRAIN and I'll send you my business brain starter kit, with five templates and a prompt that interviews you to fill them in.
