Three questions. One bottleneck.
14 September 2026
Most people stall on AI because they're trying to pick the perfect first project. There's a faster way.
Three questions. If you answer yes to all three, you've found it.
Does it repeat? Weekly, daily, every time a new client signs up. If you're only going to do it once, the setup isn't worth it. AI pays you back on repetition.
Does it cost you time, money, or energy? The bigger the cost, the bigger the payback. If it takes five minutes and you don't mind doing it, leave it alone. If it takes an hour and you dread it, that's your bottleneck.
Can you describe what a good result looks like? This is the one most people skip. If you can't tell whether the output is right, AI definitely can't. But if you've got an example that worked before, a proposal that won the work, a report your boss liked, a follow-up email that got a reply, you've got your benchmark.
I use these three questions with every new client. They take about a minute. The bottleneck is almost always hiding in plain sight: a recurring task that takes an hour, that the team dreads, and that has a dozen good examples already sitting in a shared drive somewhere.
Three yeses and you've got your starting point.
Write it down tonight. One sentence. "My bottleneck is..." and fill in the rest. Tomorrow you start briefing AI on that one thing.
