Long Game

The real reason AI sounds generic

Long Game

Every business owner I work with asks me the same question: which AI tool should I buy?

It is the wrong question.

AI has already moved through two phases. Phase one was chatbots, where you type a question and read the answer. Phase two is agents, AI that goes off and does the work for you.

The third phase is the one that matters for your business, and it is context.

Context is everything the AI knows about your business before it starts a job. Your services, your clients, your pricing, how you like things done.

Think of it as the briefing pack you would give a new hire on day one. Without it, you are asking a brilliant assistant to help before anyone has told them what you sell.

The big software companies have already worked this out. They are fighting over customer data right now because whoever holds the context holds the value.

You already own the context that matters most: how your business actually works. Nobody else has that.

I stopped switching tools three months ago and started writing everything down instead. One file: what we sell, who we sell it to, how we like things written and structured.

I hand AI that file at the start of every job. Last week a client proposal came back in under ten minutes, written in my voice, at my standard. Three months ago the same job took an hour of rewriting.

Spend twenty minutes today writing yours down. The tool matters far less than what it knows about you.
