The highest paid build AI systems

The highest paid person in your industry isn't the one doing the work. They built the thing that does the work.

That pattern is more than a hundred years old. In a factory, the person on the line got paid by the hour. The person who designed the production line got paid on every unit that came off it.

Software widened the gap. One person does a task by hand. Another writes a small program that does the same task endlessly, without ever getting tired.

AI has now put that multiplying effect within reach of people who could never write a program. Most of them aren't taking it.

They use AI to write quotes, replies and reports a bit faster than before. Useful, but it caps out quickly, because you're still standing in the middle of every task.

A minority of business owners are building systems instead. They set a job up once, and it runs without them. While everyone else is typing quicker, their business is doing jobs with nobody at the keyboard.

My weekly client report is one of mine. It runs on a timer, and the finished report is sitting in the folder before I get to my desk on Monday morning. I built it once, and I've barely touched it since.

Being faster pays you once, on the day you do the task. A system keeps paying you every week it runs.
