Stop re-briefing Claude every day

You are re-explaining your business to Claude every single day.

Claude keeps what it knows about you in one memory file, and that file has a ceiling. Once it fills up, the detail that actually matters gets squeezed out to make room for whatever you told it last Tuesday: how you price, who your clients are, why you turned down that job in March.

So you paste the background in again, and a month later you are doing it a third time.

A longer memory file will not save you. What Claude needs is a filing system it can search, so it never has to hold everything at once.

Mine is one folder on my laptop. Inside it, one sub-folder for AI With Kelso and one for Kelso Digital. Every folder carries an index note named after the folder, and that note says what is inside. Claude reads the index instead of opening twenty files to answer one question.

Every day gets its own note too, with a bullet list at the top, one line per event. Claude scans that list first and opens the full note only when it gets a match.

Above all of it sits one master file. That is the only note Claude reads on start-up. It lists every folder and what lives in each one, without opening a single one of them. Claude goes into a folder the moment you need something in it.

Then I turned memory.md, the file Claude uses to remember things between chats, into a signpost. It carries no knowledge itself now, it just tells Claude where to look.

I have been adding to that vault every day since, and start-up still costs Claude one page.

Give Claude somewhere to put what it learns about your business, and it will still know it in six months.
