MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. The model is your AI, Claude or ChatGPT. The context is your tools and the information inside them. The protocol is the shared set of rules for how the two talk to each other, like a handshake when you meet someone at work.

An MCP is a small piece of code, written to those rules, that lets your AI work inside your tools directly, instead of you ferrying text in and out by hand.

Last week I asked Claude to go into my CRM, find everyone who clicked my last two emails but didn't buy, tag them, and send each one an email with an offer.

Claude did the whole job through the CRM's MCP. Done manually, that's building the search, creating the tag, writing the email and scheduling the send. 20 minutes of clicking if you know where everything lives.

Most of the big business tools already have an MCP. CRMs, accounts packages, calendars, project boards.

Connect one this week. Pick the tool you spend the most time clicking around in, search its name plus "MCP", and follow the setup. The door opens from your side.
