Should you vibe code it at all?

A few weeks ago, a client on my AI Accelerator programme asked me if building his own website with AI was a stupid idea. That question started this whole series, so here's my full answer. For some businesses, it genuinely is the wrong move.
If you'll build the site once and never touch it again, a website builder with a template will serve you better. There are far fewer places to go wrong, far fewer traps to fall into, and the learning curve of vibe coding isn't worth it for an online business card.
Vibe coding earns its place when you want your website to become a living, breathing extension of your business. Something that grows with you over time and turns into a lead generation machine that wins new business. Then the skills you learn building it keep paying you back long after launch.
I started building websites in WordPress back in 2010, and it felt like a whole new world opening up. I could build, deploy and update my sites without wading through code. The first time I vibe coded a website, I got the same feeling. You update pages and add new ones by chatting with Claude or ChatGPT. You launch opt-in pages and quiz funnels in minutes, without the 99 dollar a month software you'd normally need. And if an idea grabs you at 4 a.m., it can be live before your clients wake up.
There are pitfalls and risks. You'll face frustrations and moments when you curse yourself for even considering this. There will also be breakthroughs, and you can't beat the feeling when something you've been working on clicks and you end up with something far cooler than you imagined.
More than anything, it's a safe space to learn how to use AI and come away with a real, tangible output at the end.
If that's the website you want, build it yourself.
