Make AI mark its own homework

You spend more time fixing AI drafts than writing them yourself.

The draft comes back nearly right. Close enough that you fix the rest by hand. A missing answer here, a wrong emphasis there. Ten minutes of editing that adds up to an hour a week.

AI's first pass is a guess. It will not check that guess against your goal unless you tell it to. So the editing lands back on you, which is the exact work you were trying to hand off.

I end every brief with one line. "Assess this against its goal, analyse it for shortcomings, then rewrite it to address them."

That is the Cross-check. The fourth C in my briefing framework. Context, constraints and criteria set the standard. The Cross-check tests the output against it before you see a word.

Run it on a proposal. AI catches the paragraph that talks about you when it should be about the client. It flags the budget question your brief raised that the draft skipped. It rewrites both in the same response.

I've had it on the end of every brief for six months. Drafts that needed a proper edit now come back needing a read-through. The heavy lifting already happened.
