How much of your 2026 plan is done?

Breakdown

Go and find the plan you made for your business in January. How much of it is still outstanding?

There are just over two months left in 2026, and Christmas takes a fortnight of that. There's still time, but less than it feels like.

Most of us never hold the year up against the plan. We look at how busy we were and assume we were on track. You can be flat out every week of the year and still drift a long way from what you set out to do.

So block out one hour this week and get AI to show you where the year went.

Give Claude or ChatGPT your plan for the year. Then give it what actually happened: notes from your team meetings, your sales by month, the projects you finished and the ones you dropped.

Ask it four questions.

  1. What was supposed to happen?
  2. What actually happened?
  3. What did we learn?
  4. What can we still finish before Christmas?

The first question is the one most of us skip, and it's the one that shows you the drift. AI is useful here because it reads ten months of notes without getting defensive about any of them.

Take one thing from that last answer, put a name and a date beside it, and get it done.

Then put the same hour in your calendar for the first week of every month next year. A monthly check catches the drift while there's still time to fix it, so you're not finding out in October again.

Nine weeks is enough to finish the one thing on that plan that matters most, as long as you start this week.
