Everyone agreed, and nobody did it
28 October 2026

Everyone in the meeting agreed what needed to happen. A week later nobody has done it, and when you ask, each person thought somebody else had it.
Atlassian surveyed 5,000 knowledge workers, and 54% said they often leave meetings without a clear idea of next steps or who owns which task. 77% said their meetings often end with a decision to have another meeting.
Meetings drift because nobody writes down who does what by when. The job belongs to everyone, so in practice it belongs to nobody.
AI can sort this out in about two minutes once the meeting ends.
Record the meeting on your phone, or let Zoom or Teams make the transcript. Give it to Claude or ChatGPT and ask it to list every decision, every action, who owns it and the date it's due.
Then add one rule: if nobody agreed an owner or a date, write "not agreed" beside it.
Without that rule, AI fills the gap with a likely name and a date nobody set, and the list looks finished when it isn't.
The "not agreed" lines are the jobs that were about to fall through the cracks. Settle them today, while everyone still remembers the conversation.
I do this after every client call, and every action goes straight onto my task list. Send your list to everyone within the hour, and open the next meeting by reading it out.
It's very hard to say "I thought you had that" when your name is written beside it.
