Claude edits videos now

Claude can now edit your videos.

I record a short video every day, and the edit is always the slowest part. Trimming the dead air and shuffling clips into order takes longer than recording the thing.

A new editor called Palmier changes that. It's a free, open source video editor for the Mac, with a proper multi-track timeline, the same shape you'd recognise from Premiere Pro.

The difference is that you drive it by talking to Claude. You connect Claude through MCP, the same plug that lets it use your other tools, and then you tell it what you want.

Trim the dead air off the front of every clip. Split that long take in two. Reorder the clips so the strongest one opens first.

Claude sees the whole project and makes those edits right on your timeline. When you want hands-on control, you drag and cut like any normal editor.

Two catches. It's Mac only and wants a recent version of macOS. And the built-in AI generation costs credits, though the editing and the Claude connection are free, and you don't even need an account.

The bigger point is what this does to the skill barrier. Until now, the wall between recording a video and publishing it was software you had to learn. Now it's whether you can describe the edit in one clear sentence.
